**EDIT** (05/24/08)

I changed the drawing in photoshop...
made the surrounding area much darker.

---------------------------------------

more figures from life drawing class.
life size...

I think there's a bit of a Silent Hill tribute in there somewhere.
I exaggerated most of her proportions (not that she needed it. She was naturally curvy)....that's why her thigh area looks to short and......um.......chicken-like....
alright I admit it.....I accidentally gave her drumstick legs
but Im not gonna change it....cause Im a lazy bastard

Gorgeous work. The skin is rendered expertly and that head is just terrifying, like a moving drill heading towards the viewer.

Your life drawings are fantastic. Definitely reminds me of art classes in school, when the professor would get quite upset with me by combining two of the model's poses into one picture, or replacing her hair with snakes.

Wonderful. Take care. ;)

haha....you did that too?
It wasn't until my later years of school that
my professors allowed me to do whatever I wanted with
the human figure. Early on I was scolded by one of my
toughest instructors that my figures were too skinny
and corpse-like....whatever that means...haha

That's really fuckin' cool. From the balance to the bizarre textures in her thighs. ohhhohoh.

I wish I had work like this in my life drawing class. People were too conservative.

oh thank you..

My life drawing classes were very conservative
as well. It seems a lot of people are pre-occupied
with trying to make perfect drawings, and ignore
the fundamental act of enjoying the experience.
I always like the reactions of my fellow classmates
though, when they we browse eachothers work
during the model breaks....my work always put a
smile on their faces, and in the end that's all
that really mattered..

That perfection you always see is so boring. Granted, it's appealing to some extent, but it's just no fun. That's what makes this kind of work so valuable. It's easy to find "perfect" work anywhere. It's entirely different to find something of individuality. :)

I have to agree with you, though; the reaction from others is the only part that ever really matters. To get someone to simply respond to your work makes all the effort really matter. :)

You take care, too. :3 thanks

Woah, I think you should design a monster for Silent Hill after this. XD
I love the affect here, it's done only with black, red, and white, right? It has a scary, haunted mansion feel with a touch of carnage.

well thank you,
but Im sure they don't need my designs.
Their stuff is much more creepier than anything I can do.
It's done with black and redish-orange charcoal...the white is just the colour of the paper.

Cool, I wish I could do charcoal drawings. But it will just just get on me, nothing on the paper. ^^;

actually that's good then, cause charcoal drawing is the worse.
Most of the charcoal dust gets in my lungs. After each drawing
I go and blow out my nose and it's all black...
it's not very appealing....and Im sure it's taken years off my life.

This is intense - and I agree, Silent Hill for sure! Initially, it reminded me of pieces from The Cell as well. Really love it - it's welcome in my dreams anytime. I generally enjoy frequent nightmares. Just wish I could harness what I dream and bring things to life on paper but everything always appears too sweet and innocent so I must live vicariously through work like yours.

wow The Cell, huh.....I've never had my work compared with Tarsem Singh's style before. I can't live up to his heavenly nightmares....
but speaking of dreams and nightmares, I haven't had either in over 5 or 6 years. I would give anything to be able to dream again.....I also use to have some insanely enjoyable zombie nightmares (I wish I still had those too...haha)

Oh, I wish more than anything that I could film my subconscious craziness. I would send you images of inspiration. It's insane - the things that my head comes up with. My first memorable nightmare happened at the age of 5 after drinking an entire can of root-beer right before bed. Wolves hunted me and attacked from behind. I remember waking up and still feeling their teeth in my back. I had to get out of bed for the sensation to go away. That was a reoccurring one through much of my life. I could escape them for a time, by going inside but I watched a movie called the guardian and the wolves in that film were smart enough to get inside. After that, nothing was safe. They haven't stopped since. The landscapes are intense too - my favorite one reminds me of a broken down amusement park but it's almost too dark to distinguish anything until I run into it. I have to wonder if my heart will be able to stand these dreams as I get older because they most certainly scare me silly. Up until now, I haven't minded. Rambling... enjoy today! -Jess

wow you have some very vivid dreams.....or at least you able to remember them vividly.
I can't usually remember any of my dreams, and the dreams I have now aren't even dreams. They're not concrete images or tangible concepts like usual dreams, but rather abstract balls of emotional energy. I wish I could explain them better, but I'm too much of a retard to do so.
I believe they could be an less intense version of the "Night Terrors" phenomenon.

anyway..
So I guess you're not too fond of Werewolf movies, right?
I'm kinda interested in that Guardian and the Wolves movie....but I can't seem to find any information on it.

oooooh - creepy night terrors! I hate them. To this day, I will bolt upright, screaming but once I realize it was a dream, I try to remember as much as I can. This doesn't happen often, thank goodness, but
what a crazy feeling it is to be THAT scared in the comfort of one's own home!

I find werewolves to be silly - as well as zombies. They don't frighten me at all. However, real wolves, when upset, really scare me and "the nothing" in The Neverending Story - wow - STILL can't look at that thing. I'ts a puppet too - and not a very convincing one but it scares me silly! Also, the dogs in Resident Evil were pretty hard for me to watch.
