Minotauro IV by Ballistyc Minotauro IV by Ballistyc
WIP Minotaur bust
the size of the head is about 2 inches.
the entire height (from bottom of sternum to top of horns) is about 5 inches.

Made with Super Sculpey

The likeness is based on the Mix Martial Artist,
and former Pride and UFC Heavyweight champion;
Antonio Rodrigo 'Minotauro' Nogueira

I've always loved the look of Rodrigo's face. He's got such great character in his features.
The way he wears all his emotions and his history on the surface of his face is just beautiful.
It's authentic.
It's like a map of his life.
....and I've been meaning to do a modernize interpretation of the Minotaur creature for a while now.....
I figured why not combine the two. I suppose it's only fitting that I chose
Rodrigo Nogueira since his nickname is 'Minotauro'.
A beast that roamed the Labyrinths is now a beast that roams the Octagon...

The proportions and symmentry of his face were more difficult than I had imagined.
There's a certain innocense and child-like wonder in Minotauro's eyes that I wanted to capture.
Hopefully I did him justice.

This is still a 'Work-In-Progress', so things might change a bit.
I think I might incorporate a Labyrinth motif into a simple base for the bust.
All critiques are welcomed.

I imagined the face to be a bit bigger, considering the amount of detail and tiny wrinkles in its skin.
You did a great job on this piece, it is so beautiful and lifelike.

How do you get so much detail into 2 inches of head?

Wait. SCULPEY.

... what.

I swear I can see sweat, and pores, and - WHAT IS THIS

Are you, like, capturing human souls in your Super Sculpey? Because these things are amazing.

I found all of my Minotauro Nogueira images on Google.
You should just search around...I was only able to find
a few decent images though. I wish I could tell you that
I still have my reference images, but I don't anymore.
Good luck with the search, and thanks for the favourite!

Hey you've got some nice sculptures.
I suspect we use similar tools when sculpting.
The skin texture was scratched on using the thinest
point I could find. That being a sewing needle...

What an awesome job! How did you do the twinkles and face lines? Is that all done with a kind of "scratching" into the sculpey?
